CONGREGATE CENTERS


Fort Bend Seniors serves senior citizens in Fort Bend and Waller Counties from 9 locations. 8 congregate center locations and 1 distribution only locations. 8 are “Sit & Eat” Community Center style sites located in Brookshire, Fulshear, Kendleton, Meadows Place, Missouri City, Richmond, Rosenberg, and Sugar Land. These locations include a senior living apartment complex-The Huntington at Sienna in Missouri City, that is open to residents only.

All Congregate Centers are open Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The Bud O’Shieles Community Center is the FBS flagship and houses the administrative offices in Rosenberg, TX.

  • Art classes are offered every Tuesday and Thursday with Jaime, our professional art instructor
  • Various exercise classes are offered Monday – Friday at 10:00am with professional instructors
  • A Fitness Center (Note: Everyone using the fitness center must fill out paperwork and do a short orientation to ensure equipment is used safely.)
  • Computer Access. FBS staff or volunteers on site to assist (Note: Everyone using the computer lab must do an orientation to ensure proper protocols are followed on the computers.)
  • Bingo is currently offered Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
  • Field Trips & Monthly shopping trip

All congregate programs are open to everyone 60+ regardless of income. Drop by at a location near you to tour the facility. Your local Site Manager can assist you in completing introductory paperwork should you choose to join us, to ensure we provide the best services to you.

CONGREGATE MEALS

Congregate meals are served in a group setting and include one hot meal daily that meets at least 1/3 of the recommended daily allowance of all nutrients required by adults. Meals are served all 8 of Fort Bend Seniors’ senior centers, located throughout Fort Bend and Waller counties five days a week.

All exercises can be adapted to participants’ needs.

Activities at the senior centers include:

  • Meals & nutrition education
  • Arts and crafts,
  • Bingo games
  • Fitness classes
  • Fitness equipment (Rosenberg)
  • Fishing (Jones Creek Ranch)
  • Computer classes
  • Health screenings
  • Field trips
  • Holiday Events

All our recreation activities provide seniors the opportunity to socialize and interact with their peers. Additionally, those attending senior centers are provided with an important opportunity to visit with Fort Bend Seniors’ staff regarding additional needs and services.

Larger holiday celebrations such as Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and an annual Holiday Celebration take place at our flagship center, the Bud O’Shieles Community Center in Rosenberg, and transportation is available.

A monthly calendar of events is provided to seniors outlining upcoming recreational and social programs.

PAYMENT

Meals are provided at no cost to eligible seniors, however they may voluntarily contribute toward the cost of a meal if they are able.

TRANSPORTATION

Fort Bend Seniors provides round-trip transportation through Fort Bend Transportation with their fleet of air conditioned, handicapped accessible vans, to each location the congregate meal program is available, with no cost to them. (Transportation is available through transportation vouchers or on an as needed basis). Masks must be worn on the bus.
