About Us
Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels delivers hot meals daily and weekly to homebound seniors throughout Fort Bend and Waller Counties. Our staff and volunteer drivers bring meals directly to seniors’ doors. We also operate six senior centers across both counties, where seniors gather for nutritious meals, activities, and the kind of connection that keeps them healthy and engaged.
Who We Serve
Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels serves all eligible adults age 60 and over in Fort Bend and Waller Counties. Active seniors can enjoy hot meals and daily activities at any of our senior center locations across both counties. For homebound seniors, we deliver hot meals daily or weekly through a network of dedicated staff and volunteer drivers.
All of our programs are provided at no cost, based on need—not income.
Our History
Fort Bend Seniors (FBS) is one of Fort Bend County’s oldest non-profit organizations and was formed in 1974 by community leaders. During our first year of service, FBS provided 20,000 hot meals.
By 1976, the program became a non-profit organization 501(c)(3), and in 1981, Fort Bend Seniors joined the United Way of Texas Gulf Coast. FBS is accredited through the Meals on Wheels Association of America as a Certified Nutritional Program.
Fort Bend Seniors now provides Meals on Wheels services to over 2,200 seniors annually. Fort Bend Seniors is the only organization that provides Meals on Wheels to all persons 60 years of age and over regardless of income in Fort Bend or Waller Counties. 91% of FBS’ clients live near or below the poverty level living.
Today, FBS provides comprehensive services and programs including Meals on Wheels, congregate meals, transportation, case management, health screenings, information and referral services, recreation and more. Each of these programs and services enables area seniors to remain in their homes and continue to be an integral part of the community for as long as possible.
Local Seniors Rely on Local Support
When you see a Meals on Wheels driver at a front door in Fort Bend or Waller County, you see more than a meal delivery. You see a lifeline. For thousands of homebound seniors, this visit brings food, a safety check, and a human connection that breaks long hours of isolation. Many of our clients live alone. Many have no nearby family. For them, this knock on the door means someone cares and someone shows up.
The need around us grows each month. More seniors live longer on fixed incomes. Grocery prices rise. Mobility declines. Driving becomes unsafe. A simple trip to the store turns into an impossible task. Without local support, many older adults face hunger, loneliness, and preventable health crises inside their own homes.
This work depends on neighbors helping neighbors. Federal funding shifts. State support fluctuates. What remains steady is the generosity of people in this community who believe seniors deserve dignity and independence. Your support stays here. Your gift serves seniors who live down the street, across town, and throughout the county you call home.
Every donation delivers more than food. You provide a daily safety check. You provide a friendly face. You help a senior remain in the place they feel safest, their own home. You help prevent falls, hospital visits, and emergency calls. You keep someone connected to the world outside their front door.
Local seniors need local support. You have the power to keep this lifeline moving. Your gift today keeps meals on wheels and hope at the doorstep for the seniors who built this community and now count on us.
Emergency Preparedness
A 2014 study found less than 25% of older adults have an emergency plan. Of those surveyed a quarter live alone and a third were disabled or in poor health. Our older population is most vulnerable in a time of crisis, so being prepared today means a faster response time and less stress in the future.
