Community Support Keeps Seven Meals a Week for Local Seniors
Rosenberg, Texas – December 18, 2025 — Because of strong community support, Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels will postpone a planned reduction in meal service. In late October, the organization shared that due to a loss of federal funding, a change from seven meals per week to five meals per week was scheduled to begin for homebound clients on January 1, 2026. Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels is pleased to confirm that homebound seniors will continue receiving seven meals per week beyond January 1. The transition to five meals per week has been postponed for six months.
The response from the community has been both encouraging and deeply meaningful. At the same time, this support does not signal an end point—it marks a critical window. While the reduction in meal service has been postponed for six months, the underlying need remains. Rising food costs, increased demand, and ongoing funding uncertainty continue to place pressure on senior nutrition services.
This outcome reflects the power of people coming together. Individual donors stepped forward. Corporate and government partners responded with urgency. Local foundations showed leadership. Each gift helped protect the health, dignity, and independence of seniors across Fort Bend and Waller Counties.
